Overview
The Technical Services team within ECU’s Digital and Campus Services department is responsible for operating the infrastructure that underpins the university’s digital environment, including Azure IaaS, on-campus and cloud networks, storage and compute, collaboration and unified communications, and infrastructure services e.g., Switching and Routing.  ECU is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to fulfil a key role within the Technical Services team.

The Role
As the Senior Network Engineer, reporting to the Manager, Technical Services, you will oversee the day-to-day operation of ECU’s network infrastructure, ensuring a highly available and secure environment across multiple campuses and the cloud.  You will guide incident response and resolution, manage the completion of service requests, supervise changes, develop operational processes, and fulfill the network SME role on minor projects.  To be successful in this role, you will require the following:

Mandatory skills and experience:

  • At least two years’ experience in an enterprise-level senior operational networking role.
  • Cisco enterprise routing, switching, wireless and firewall configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Network administration and management.
  • Experience within a secure highly available multilayer campus network environment.
  • Experience managing relationships with ISPs, telcos, hardware vendors and managed service providers.
  • Experience working with other digital teams, e.g., infrastructure, applications, end user device support, service desk and information security.
  • Experience operating within a structured service management framework, e.g., ITIL.

Key attributes:

  • Strong ability to adapt, improvise and overcome; a self-starter that can work under limited supervision and under pressure, prioritise tasks and take ownership of outcomes.
  • Good written and oral communication skills and ability to build effective relationships.
  • Willingness to embrace new technologies.
  • Comfortable with taking part in an on-call roster.

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Azure networking
  • Check Point firewalls.
  • Cisco Prime
  • Voice and video networking within an enterprise environment.
  • Multi-vendor networking.
  • SASE/SSE.
  • NAC.

Benefits & Remuneration
This full time, fixed term position attracts reward of $125,046 to $140,839 (HEW8) (Inclusive of 17% super). Option to reduce super to standard contribution and take rest as salary. After probation participating in the on-call roster will add a potential extra $15,000 (circa) to annual your salary.
