About us

This role sits within the Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HSW) team in the Human Resource Services (HRS) unit within the Resources Division. As a Senior Manager, you will lead the charge in implementing best practice wellbeing and psychosocial risk interventions across our organisation.

Driven by the Wellbeing Health and Safety Strategy 2020-25, the HSW team works through evidence based strategic action with the aim to:

  • Increase the proportion of staff and students who experience higher levels of mental wellbeing.
  • Reduce staff and student exposure to avoidable risk factors within the work , research and learning environment and increase their resilience and proactive access to social support
  • Increase the proportion of staff and students who seek and obtain timely assistance for emerging or existing mental health conditions, and experience recovery.

    This position represents an opportunity to drive the design, development, and implementation of contemporary psychosocial risk management strategies and initiatives, that foster and maintain healthy working environments and culture. The Senior Manager, Psychosocial Risk and Wellbeing will be an advocate for psychological health of the University community.     The successful applicant will be responsible for the implementation, and oversight of a comprehensive psychosocial risk management strategy centering on identifying potential psychosocial risks, conducting risk assessments, devising mitigation strategies, and fostering the overall wellbeing of both staff and students. Their expertise will provide an evidence informed approach to identify, assess and mitigate psychosocial risks that affect staff and students.

    How will you inspire us?

    We are seeking candidates who meet the following criteria:

    • Postgraduate qualifications in psychological or health sciences, with extensive industry experience OR extensive management experience and proven management expertise OR a relevant combination of experience and education/training
    • Proven experience in managing psychosocial risks, providing services and referrals to mental health support, and implementing staff wellbeing initiatives.
    • Knowledge and understanding with Australian laws, regulations, and ethical considerations related to maintaining a University environment that causes no harm.
    • Extensive practical experience in conducting risk and/or clinical assessments, analysing data, and applying evidence-informed interventions.
    • Expert knowledge in mental health, psychosocial risk management, suicide prevention, complex case management and psychological first aid.
    • Outstanding communication with evidence of highly developed skills in problem-solving and negotiation.
    • Drive continuous improvement and the capacity to apply evidence-informed frameworks to real-world situations.
    • Strong written communication and experience producing high-quality guidance materials, briefings, reports, and project-related documents for various audiences.

    What we offer

    This position will be offered as a HEW 9 permanent position.

    The remuneration range is from $125,767 - $134,749 plus 17% superannuation and leave loading.
