Position Overview
ANU Advancement provides leadership and support across the University in developing meaningful and sustainable relationships with ANU alumni, donors and the broader community, securing long-term philanthropic investment and ensuring the strong management of existing philanthropic funds and accountability to the university’s donors. This is achieved through directing activity exclusively towards supporting, amplifying, and propelling the University’s vision, mission and strategic objectives, in service to its ever-changing priorities and areas of greatest need. ANU Advancement's mission is to build meaningful and enduring connections with our community and pair the passions of generous people with the outstanding work of our University.

Advancement Community & Engagement forms the foundation of the University’s engagement and fundraising efforts, with a program of targeted large-scale programs and appeals designed to build community, increase affinity with ANU, build philanthropic understanding, increase donor and alumni engagement and build our philanthropic pipeline. The Senior Manager, Community & Engagement is a critical position within ANU Advancement and connects and supports alumni, donors, friends, and members of the wider community who are excited by our vision, energy, and commitment to improving society and addressing our world’s big challenges. The goal is to foster a culture of philanthropy throughout the University community and beyond.           

About the role
Reporting to the Associate Director, Alumni & Community Engagement, the Senior Manager, Community & Engagement is responsible for the University’s Advancement Engagement, Communications and Annual Giving strategy and implementing a framework for connecting with donors, alumni and friends, in support of the Advancement and the ambitions of the ANU.

This position provides expert strategic advice to, and works in close partnership with, members of Advancement and Senior Management, development and alumni teams, and key University stakeholders and colleagues; and oversees operational responsibilities across the Community & Engagement stream.

The Senior Manager, Community & Engagement will develop and maintain strong interpersonal relationships across the ANU, and will form and utilise networks spanning the University, liaising with a range of stakeholders. These relationships span ANU Communications and Engagement (ACE), the Marketing and Student Recruitment teams, ANU People & Culture, Colleges, Service Divisions and is focused on engaging the ANU community to build knowledge of Philanthropy.
