About the Enterprise Partnerships Unit

As ‘Australia’s University of Enterprise’, industry-engaged research is a cornerstone of our purpose at the University of South Australia (UniSA) and the University will take a partnered approach to research and enterprise through the establishment of a UniSA Enterprise Hub™ to be operated and supported by a newly formed Enterprise Partnerships Unit.

The Enterprise Partnerships Unit will bring together the functions and activities of business development, partnership with industries, community groups and Aboriginal corporations; business incubation; research translation and commercialisation. It acknowledges our research capabilities and takes these to partnerships via a sector-based approach and services that are articulated in ways that are accessible to business and community. It also provides unified and clear points of support and contact for our research community at UniSA.

About the Role

We have new opportunities for experienced and strategic business development professionals to join UniSA in the role of Senior Manager: Business Development. You will lead lasting relationships with our key partners to strengthen our position as an internationally renowned higher education partner and to grow the impact of our research.

As the Senior Manager: Business Development you will lead engagement activities for one or more of the following identified sectors, understanding their business needs and the industry sector:

  • Hi-tech & Creative Industries
  • Defence & Space
  • Health, Medical & Care
  • Advanced Manufacturing
  • Professional & Social Services
  • Education & Training
  • Food, Environment & Water
  • Energy, Resources & Mining
  • Engineering

Core Responsibilities
  • Lead strategic relationships with key stakeholders
  • Develop sector enabling capability mapping and strategic plans
  • Assess new opportunities in relation to market and stakeholder needs
  • Provide advice and guidance across the university relating to engagement in industry activities
  • Develop and execute commercial research and project proposals that are consistent with strategic direction

Essential Skills and Experience
  • A qualification in a relevant discipline coupled with experience in Business Development
  • Experience developing strategic relationships with key stakeholders and industry associations
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic plans and generate income
  • Experience in the execution of commercial project proposals including negotiation, budget development, risk management and contract compliance
  • Leadership experience, providing oversight and direction to staff
