ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Senior Manager Analytics leads a team of Analysts to deliver actionable insights and analytics to empower university staff to enable impactful teaching and research, drive sustainable performance, and deliver outstanding student experiences. This is a key role in developing strong stakeholder relationships to understand opportunities and challenges, and support Analysts in developing technical capabilities to deliver high impact and actionable insights. 

The Senior Manager Analytics ensures operating activities comply with governance and controls, and the mitigation of risks, and will utilise experience, business acumen and problem-solving expertise to make decisions and recommendations on broad and complex issues which impact on the operations of the organisation. The position has leadership responsibilities to guide, develop and manage a team of professional staff, including managing performance and development, and for the delegation of work activity. 

The Senior Manager Analytics works under broad direction and is expected to exercise a high degree of initiative and judgement to coordinate multiple activities and teams concurrently on projects, and resolve complex issues associated with tracking and reporting delivery. They work with a range of staff across multiple project teams and stakeholders in the University environment to meet work area objectives. Using previous reporting management and administration experience they are expected to resolve complex issues and fully utilise their knowledge of data delivery to be successful in their role

          

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • develop and maintain stakeholder relationships 

  • lead and develop stakeholder relationships to enable delivery of relevant and impactful analytics

  • partner with stakeholders to understand challenges and opportunities where analytics techniques can be applied to create positive impact  

  • lead delivery of analytics  

  • provide technical training and support to Analysts, adopting best practice techniques in leveraging technology to deliver analytics products

  • lead delivery of actionable insights and recommendations 

  • lead Analysts in interpreting data and analytics, and summarizing insights to support stakeholders in making data driven decision 

  • data quality and support and lead Analysts to provide quality data to Faculties that support data driven decisions and actions

  • operational excellence and work closely with Advanced Analytics, Planning, and Enterprise Data to leverage skills and capabilities across the function to respond to faculty opportunities and requirements

About you

  • this role has been stood up to support a change program to transform the way data and analytics are used to support decision making within the University, as a new role there is opportunity to shape the way value is delivered and to build the new team, the successful applicant will be experienced and comfortable working through change and comfortable working with a degree of ambiguity

  • proven management experience: together with flexibility, capacity to adapt to changing circumstances and environments and, when necessary, navigating through ambiguity 

  • demonstrated experience in the supervision, training, mentoring and performance management of staff; and experience managing and resolving a diverse range of HR issues

  • extensive experience in applying technical capabilities in the field of Analytics to deliver insight and recommendations

  • ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work 

  • excellent time and workload management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise effectively, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and achieve required outcomes and effectively deliver results

  • strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills together with effective leadership and people management skills

  • excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with a variety of matters 

  • demonstrated experience in communicating analysis and insights to a senior/ Executive audience to influence action

  • postgraduate qualifications in analytics, data, or other relevant field and extensive relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.
