About the opportunity 

The University Centre for Rural Health, North Coast is currently recruiting a Senior Lecturer, Rural Research Education. At the University, a Senior Lecturer is expected to make a significant contribution to the research, education and administrative endeavours of their School/ Faculty while building their reputation towards becoming an authority in the discipline.

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • leading, enabling and providing research education, supervision and mentorship for the University Centre for Rural Health (UCRH) Doctor of Medicine (MD) medical students

  • coordinating suitable projects and supervisors for each annual cohort of MD students

  • conducting relevant research that is aligned with the research priorities of the UCRH and contribute to the overall research education program at the UCRH.

  • a PhD in a relevant academic field relevant or other higher professional qualifications appropriate to your discipline
  • significant experience in supervising research students and coordinating team activities

  • demonstrated understanding of and commitment to rural health

  • demonstrated ability to develop and implement a strategic vision and plan for a major research program

  • demonstrated ability to engage with health service organisation and health care providers in a rural setting, that can be leveraged to enhance the success of the UCRH research education program

  • demonstrated ability to develop and implement a strategic vision and plan for a major research program, including applying for external funding

  • demonstrated capacity for high quality research outputs

  • acknowledged at a national level as influential in expanding knowledge within the discipline and/or in pedagogical or curriculum innovation

  • demonstrated excellence in research, scholarly activities relevant to research education design and practice.

Your employment is conditional upon the completion of all role required pre-employment or background checks in terms satisfactory to the University. Similarly, your ongoing employment is conditional upon the satisfactory maintenance of all relevant clearances and background check requirements. If you do not meet these conditions, the University may take any necessary step, including the termination of your employment.

For a continuing position, you must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident.
