  • FTE continuing position as Level C (Senior Lecturer) Teaching and Research, based in Sydney Medical School at the Camperdown campus
  • Base Salary $145,023 - $167,221 + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

Formed in 1856, Sydney Medical School is the oldest medical school in Australia. it accommodates around 1200 medical students undertaking a four-year graduate-entry Doctor of Medicine program, in addition to postgraduate coursework students undertaking a wide range of master’s degree, graduate diploma and graduate certificate courses.  In addition to teaching and research facilities on the primary Camperdown and Westmead campuses, Sydney Medical School is comprised of six metropolitan clinical schools and three rural clinical schools where students undertake the majority of the program.

The successful candidate will be an academic educator and researcher with a demonstrated track record in all aspects of assessment of Medical Education (i.e. innovation, planning, delivery, analysis, and evaluation) to assist in ongoing development of our curriculum. The role will report to the Director of the Sydney Medical Program.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • provide leadership in the development, implementation and promotion of education in the Sydney Medical Program in liaison with academic, clinical, and professional staff
  • collaborate with academic, professional, and clinical staff across all the SMS clinical schools and associated LHD hospitals, as part of the development and delivery of the Sydney Medical Program
  • be a senior member of a team of academic and professional staff focused on design, development, delivery, and evaluation of the Sydney Medical program
  • undertake and publish research on aspects of curriculum design, development, delivery, student experience and performance.
  • promote a culture that is collaborative, team oriented, and one that respects the skill sets and opinions of all faculty and staff.
  • undertake aspects of curriculum, design, development, delivery, and evaluation, as directed by the Director of the Sydney Medical Program

About you

  • possess  a HDR (MPhil/PhD) or Masters degree in education
  • demonstrate experience in teaching and learning in the tertiary education sector, including designing, implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives
  • demonstrate  an established research profile evidenced by original, high-quality and independent research in the field of education  and / or related fields of practice
  • demonstrate the pursuit of academic research of national significance with a developing network of relationships with academic, consumer / advocacy, industry and / or professional organisations, partners and stakeholders
  • demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the key strategic issues in the discipline and tertiary
  • education sector.Demonstrate ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary educational team focused on improving the content, organization, and delivery of an existing graduate medical program.
  • demonstrate commitment and capacity to implement equal employment opportunity/affirmative action policies.
