About the Role 

The Department of Education at Swinburne University of Technology is a crucial discipline area within the School of Social Sciences, Media, Film and Education. Underpinning all research, teaching and knowledge exchange activity in the Department is a commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of individuals and groups in the communities we serve. This not only shapes the ethos in the Department, but also our engagement with stakeholders including but not limited to students and our professional and research partners. 

The Department of Education is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced and innovative academic who will lead and contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, with a specific focus on numeracy and mathematics. This includes accreditation activities associated with external agencies and organisations. Teaching will involve a range of blended and hybrid delivery methods, including lectures, tutorials and seminars. Additionally, the appointee will contribute to the research profile of the department by participating in and leading a defined field of research within Education. The incumbent will be actively involved in the supervision of postgraduate research students.  

About You  
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities: 

•    Demonstrated experience in tertiary teaching with a focus on numeracy and mathematics, including a record of leading and directing a course in teacher education.
•    Demonstrated high-level competence in leading innovative teaching and curriculum development in on-campus, flexible, blended, and online modes of delivery.
•    Excellent understanding of the trends and issues in teacher education and professional practice.
•    Demonstrated ability to contribute to capacity building and mentoring of students and colleagues.
•    A good track record of high-quality research outputs, including an emerging record of funding and HDR supervision.

Qualifications
•    A Bachelor or Postgraduate Teaching Degree in Education
•    A Doctoral Qualification relevant to the field of Education
