About the opportunity

Southern Cross University’s Faculty of Science and Engineering is seeking a Senior Lecturer or Lecturer to lead the design and delivery of a new quality academic course in Veterinary Technology. This position will drive the continuous improvement of the program’s teaching and learning performance, developing a research profile that aligns with the Faculty research priorities and undertaking relevant engagement and service activities to support the Faculty. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Provide leadership and expert input into the design, delivery and curriculum of specific units of teaching relevant to Veterinary Technology, undertaking course coordinator duties.
  • Contribute to the Faculty’s research profile through publications in national journals, engage with industry and secure grant funding.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with the veterinary sector to facilitate placements opportunities for students.
  • Undertake relevant community and professional engagement that support and enhance the University and Faculty’s profile and priorities.

About you

The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Veterinary Technology, Veterinary Science, or Veterinary Medicine or have extensive academic experience in Veterinary Nursing or Veterinary Technology. Current registration as a Veterinary Nurse, Veterinary technologist or Veterinarian is also essential. In addition, you will have:

  • Expertise in Veterinary Technology as demonstrated through external recognition of teaching, curriculum design, research and/or clinical practice.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching at a tertiary level in Veterinary Technology and leadership in the design, implementation and evaluation of innovative veterinary Technology curriculum.
  • Coordination and delivery of veterinary technology subjects (units) to achieve quality learning outcomes for students.
  • Activity in clinical research.

Salary and benefits

  • Full-time, continuing (permanent)
  • Located at Lismore. Generous relocation support available.
  • Academic Level B or C.
    • The base salary for Academic Level B ranges from $105,344 - $124,585 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $145,764.
    • The base salary for Academic Level C ranges from $128,427- $147,663 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $172,766.
