About the Role

The College of Nursing and Health Sciences is seeking a Lecturer in Nursing specialising in Diabetes Education, Teaching Specialist (Academic), or (Clinical Practitioner). 

The Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in Nursing will contribute to excellence in teaching and learning across the Nursing topics in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, primarily the postgraduate programs in Diabetes Education.  

The Lecturer will be responsible for making an independent contribution to teaching and the scholarship of teaching using innovations in teaching practices and technologies to deliver excellence in teaching. 

As Senior Lecturer you will draw upon your significant leadership and background in Diabetes Education to deliver and support colleagues in delivering excellence in teaching and promoting an outstanding student experience.   

All roles will require current and ongoing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.  

About You

To be successful in the role as either Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in (Diabetes Education) you will possess the following:

Lecturer Level B Teaching Specialist (Academic)

  • Excellence in teaching at a tertiary level.

  • Evidence of reflective practice.

  • Demonstrated understanding of curriculum reviews and internal and external accreditation activities.

  • Excellence in oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, students and industry.

  • Understanding of the nexus between teaching and learning, research, scholarship and practice.

The ideal candidate will have completed a PhD or EdD (or equivalent qualification) and a Postgraduate qualification in Diabetes Education and will also have professional experience in the field of Diabetes Education.   

Lecturer Level B Teaching Specialist (Clinical/Practitioner) 

  • Excellence in teaching performance at a tertiary level.

  • Relevant and contemporary clinical experience in Diabetes Education and ability to maintain concurrently within or outside of this position.

  • Evidence of an independent contribution to the development, delivery and evaluation of innovative teaching and learning strategies both in the classroom and in clinical education, including student assessment.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, students and industry.

  • Evidence of reflective practice.

You will also have a Doctorate in a relevant field or equivalent clinical experience and professional standing in Nursing and a Post-graduate qualification and demonstrated extensive experience in Diabetes Education.    

Senior Lecturer Level C Teaching Specialist (Academic)

  • Significant and sustained evidence of excellence in teaching performance at a tertiary level. 

  • An understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to Nursing. 

  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to reflective improvement in teaching delivery. 

  • Willingness and ability to contribute to scholarship in teaching through participation in teaching and learning strategies and in professional development in higher education teaching. 

  • A strong understanding of the nexus between teaching and learning, research, scholarship and practice. 

The ideal candidate will have completed a PhD or EdD (or equivalent qualification) and a Postgraduate   qualification in Diabetes Education and will also have professional experience in the field of Diabetes Education.  

Senior Lecturer Level C Teaching Specialist (Clinical/Practitioner) 

  • Significant and sustained evidence of excellence in teaching performance at a tertiary level, inclusive of simulation and/or clinical setting. 

  • Extensive contemporary clinical experience in Diabetes education and the ability to maintain concurrently within or outside of this position.  

  • An understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary education practice relevant to Nursing. 

  • Evidence of development, delivery and evaluation of innovative teaching and learning strategies both in the classroom and in clinical education. 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, students and industry. 

You will also have a Doctorate in a relevant field or equivalent clinical experience and professional standing in Nursing and a Post-graduate qualification and demonstrated extensive experience in Diabetes Education.
