Curtin Medical School

Established in 2017, the Curtin Medical School, which is part of the Faculty of Health Sciences, brings together multidisciplinary teaching and research expertise. The Curtin Medical School encompasses four Discipline including Medicine, Pharmacy, Biomedical Science and Medical Radiation Science. The Discipline of Medicine leads the only undergraduate medical degree in Western Australia. It is committed to producing graduates who are better equipped to meet community needs, with primary care expertise, strong leadership skills and the ability to operate effectively in interprofessional care teams.

Technology is having an increasing impact on health care delivery including at the point and care and through broader health informatics and decision support. In addition, it is being used to enhance both teaching delivery and assessment including through simulation and OSCEs. This role will ensure the Discipline of Medicine is a leader in the utilisation, research and evaluation of technology in curriculum development and delivery. In addition it aims to facilitate the early adoption of technology in its MBBS course to ensure its students are well positioned to incorporate and utilise current and future technology into their future clinical practice.
Your new role

  • Inform and support utilisation of technology to enhance teaching delivery (including simulation), assessment (including OSCEs) and curriculum development across all MBBS years
  • Develop linkages and collaborations with external stakeholders including health care providers and the health technology industry to ensure the MBBS course reflects both current and future health service current need and emerging technology
  • Support and be directly involved in teaching delivery and assessment involving the understanding and utilisation of technology and simulation
  • Support and undertake research into the application of health care technology within the Discipline, with other University Schools and Institutes and in partnership with health services and industry
  • Write curriculum documents mapping the integration of technology and ensure MBBS course documentation reflects the incorporation of technology appropriately, as directed by the Director of Learning and Teaching.
  • Design and contribute to formative and summative assessments as directed by the Director of Learning and Teaching.
  • Support external accreditation activities and write reports related learning, teaching and assessment.

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience in health care delivery and the utilisation of technology including but not limited to health informatics, artificial intelligence and decision support, and point of care assessment modalities (e.g. ultrasound)
  • PhD or equivalent research experience
  • Demonstrated ability to generate research outputs and access competitive research funding
  • Experience in health care education and simulation
  • Experience and well-developed understanding of educational practice
