Location: John Hunter Hospital

As the Senior Lecturer you will combine your substantial academic and clinical expertise to be a course coordinator in the Year 4 MD course.

You will:

  • teach and assess undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • participation in program leadership roles at disciplinary, school and college levels
  • undertaking innovative programs in research and medical education
  • contribute to professional activities, policy development and community engagement activities 

As a key member of an academic team, you will work collaboratively with the local health district to achieve growth and sustainability of research and medical education programs and to foster a strong partnership with Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD).

The position will be based within the Hunter Clinical School of the Joint Medical Program (JMP), located at John Hunter Hospital. The successful applicant will be offered a Clinical Academic appointment in Maternity and Gynaecology with the HNELHD.

  • have a Postgraduate higher research degree (PhD)
  • have previous academic experience in medicine or a related healthcare profession;
  • have a passion for excellence in teaching and assessment of communication skills;
  • be passionate about mentoring and providing academic support to less experienced staff;
  • have strong communication, management and organisational skills;
  • possess the ability to skillfully work with medical practitioners across a broad range of disciplines.
