About the Role 

With continued growth in our Nursing and Midwifery programs we are seeking a Senior Lecturer in Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) to join South Australia's No.1 university for graduate careers in Nursing. Joining UniSA Clinical and Health Sciences, this position will provide academic and clinical leadership in the reaccreditation and delivery of the NMBA approved Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) program. As an endorsed Nurse Practitioner, it is anticipated that the successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of clinical practice through the UniSA Health Clinics in addition to providing leadership and high-quality teaching across the Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) and other postgraduate nursing programs.  The Academic Unit is equipped with purpose-built teaching facilities, which incorporate fully equipped simulated hospital and health service and research facilities.

The successful applicant will be an endorsed Nurse Practitioner (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia) who will contribute to the advancement of the Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) program through strong industry relationships, participation in clinical practice activities, and assessment of Nurse Practitioner candidates.

One of seven Academic Units, UniSA Clinical and Health Sciences offers a wide range of degrees and conducts world-class research in the fields of nursing, midwifery, pharmacy, pharmaceutical science, medical sciences, laboratory medicine, and food and nutrition science with a strong focus on creating positive health outcomes for communities.

Students learn from industry professionals and their experience extends beyond the classroom, with access to purpose-built facilities, including a wide range of laboratories and simulated hospital and health services environments located on campus. Students also get hands-on experience by completing fieldwork and clinical placement throughout their studies.

Core Responsibilities  

  • Develop, coordinate and deliver nursing and health courses
  • Apply research and scholarship to the development and delivery of quality teaching and learning activities 
  • Provide academic counselling and advice to students
  • Contribute to curriculum development, research and scholarly activity
  • Supervise/co-supervise postgraduate and HDR students
  • Create, foster and enhance local, national and international relationships with relevant University, industry and professional organisations

Essential Skills and Experience 
  • Bachelor of Nursing and a Master of Nursing or equivalent qualification approved by the NMBA for preparation for Nurse Practitioner
  • Current NMBA registration as a registered nurse and endorsed Nurse Practitioner, with evidence of current professional indemnity insurance cover
  • Demonstrated expertise, knowledge and contribution to the discipline of Nursing
  • Experience in developing a culture of teaching and learning excellence and in using a range of contemporary teaching methodologies
  • Demonstrated experience / practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the public or private sector
