About the role:

We have an exciting opportunity available within the School of Arts and Communication for an experienced, passionate, and innovative teacher to contribute to our creative and professionally focused mission. The Senior Lecturer in Communication will contribute and lead in the teaching and research efforts of the University in the field of Communication and Media. We are seeking a colleague with strong ties to industry and a specialisation in strategic communication, public relations and/or political communication, with an associated track record of research, engaging with innovative methods and digital communication.

Pursuing research-led education in Communication and Media at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level, the successful applicant will also align their research with the News and Media Research Centre. The appointee will be encouraged to develop links with relevant stakeholders in the communication and media industry locally, nationally, and globally. Canberra is a vibrant and exciting location for this work with a breadth of industry partnership opportunities.

Essential responsibilities include designing and delivering lectures, coordinating work-integrated learning opportunities, leading curriculum development, conducting relevant research, actively engaging with industry stakeholders and contributing to research-led education. Reporting to the Head of School, Arts and Communication, and working amongst a passionate team of collaborative, high-performing staff, this opportunity will allow for career growth, adding to your already extensive skills by leading and representing the Communication and Media team, within industry, government, and professional forums.


About you:

To be considered for this position, the successful applicant will have qualifications including a relevant PhD, expertise in the field, proven teaching experience, a strong research track record, and demonstrated industry connections.
