SCHOOL OF SCIENCE, ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY (SSET)

The School of Science, Engineering & Technology at RMIT Vietnam is associated with the STEM College of RMIT University Melbourne, delivering the College’s award programs and developing research in the field(s) of science, engineering and health.

THE ROLE

The Lecturer is expected to contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the University, in disciplines related to their field of expertise. Specifically, the Lecturer is responsible for carrying out teaching activities within undergraduate and for maintaining and advancing their scholarly, research, and/or professional capabilities. The Lecturer is also expected to actively promote the program by establishing and maintaining memberships, links, and partnerships with academic, industry, and professional communities. The Lecturer is expected to work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the teaching team, and update colleagues and students on developments in their subject area or specialization. The Lecturer may be responsible for course coordination.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Undertake independent teaching undergraduate-level courses in the Bachelor of Science (Food Technology & Nutrition) program. Teaching duties include writing course materials; teaching lectures, lab, and tutorial sessions; helping students; designing, conducting, and grading assessments; implementing improvements informed by course evaluation activities and student feedback.

  • Undertake research at an internationally competitive level evidenced by peer-review publications, funding applications, and supervision of Higher Degree by Research scholars.

  • Undertake administration duties, which may include course coordination roles.

  • Adhere to the requirements of the Academic Expectations and Development Framework of RMIT Vietnam.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • A PhD degree in biotechnology, food science or related disciplines.

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver programs at the undergraduate level, including online delivery, and the ability to produce high-quality curriculum or program materials.

  • Demonstrated capacity to deliver high-quality research outcomes in relevant disciplines.

  • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with and negotiate with industry partners and stakeholders.

  • Ability to build effective networks with colleagues and generate alternative funding projects through effective liaison with industry and government.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills appropriate for interacting with stakeholders including academic staff and professional staff, and industry partners, together with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.

  • Ability to display appropriate behaviors in line with RMIT Values (Imagination, Agility, Courage, Passion, Impact, Inclusion).

FURTHER INFO

Expatriate candidates in Vietnam can apply for this role however to be successful in obtaining a work permit you will need to demonstrate the relevant qualification and at least 5 years of relevant teaching experience in this discipline.

English is the language of teaching and communication at RMIT Vietnam. For this role, the minimum requirement is IELTS Academic 7.0 and with no band less than 6.5 (or equivalent).
