The Department of Psychology, Counselling and Therapy encompasses several broadly related disciplines, including psychology; rehabilitation and mental health counselling; and art and family therapy. The Department operates across multiple campuses and locations, including Melbourne (Bundoora), Bendigo, Albury-Wodonga and the Bouverie Centre in Brunswick.

About the position

This Level C Senior Lecturer (Teaching Focussed) position centrally involves course and subject coordination, including delivering existing curriculum and further developing curriculum as needed, teaching, and providing support and supervision of students undertaking our Graduate Certificate in Family Therapy: First Nations program. The Level C Senior Lecturer will also be involved in curriculum development and contributing to lecturing  in the Master of Clinical Family Therapy, and will  undertake other scholarly work relevant to the development of this discipline and the students’ professional fields.

 An academic at this level will normally play a major role, or provide a significant degree of leadership  in scholarly or professional activities relevant to the profession, and will make a significant contribution to the discipline at the national level.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have;

  • PhD degree or completion of a postgraduate qualification in a discipline relevant to Family Therapy, with subsequent professional work experience; or completion of an equivalent level of training and professional practice experience
  • Record of achievement as a Family Therapy practitioner, including eligibility for Supervisor Accreditation (Clinical Member) with the Australian Association of Family Therapy.
  • Demonstrated strong connections with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Effectiveness in teaching and curriculum development, with a commitment to excellence in teaching
