The School of Biological Sciences seeks to appoint an academic leader with expertise in environmental genomics to expand the research and teaching capability in genomics within the School.

The appointee will be required to establish and build a dynamic research program in environmental or evolutionary genomics within a new Centre for Environmental and Evolutionary Genomics (CEEG). They will develop transdisciplinary research collaborations across the wider academic community at the University of Adelaide and between other organisations in Australia. The appointee will also contribute to curriculum design, delivery and coordination of teaching courses in environmental genomics, genetics, evolutionary biology and/or phylogenomics at the undergraduate level in the School, and supervise Honours, Masters and PhD students.

To be successful you will need:

• A PhD or equivalent degree in biological sciences or an aligned discipline.
• Demonstrated research excellence in environmental genomics, evidenced by a sustained track record of research outputs as lead author, including publications in highly regarded peer-reviewed scientific journals.
• Experience in establishing and leading an independent research team, with sustained success in obtaining external peer-reviewed funding as a first named investigator.
• Demonstrated experience in teaching in the disciplines of environmental genomics, genetics, evolutionary biology and/or phylogenomics at the undergraduate level.
• Exemplary personal qualities fully aligned with our institutional values of integrity, respect, collegiality, excellence and discovery.
