About the position

The La Trobe Business School is seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Applied Economics. The School has economics research expertise in Agricultural Economics, Education Economics, Economics of Migration, Household Finance and Risk, International Trade and Macroeconomics. The La Trobe Business School is also a member of the La Trobe Institute for Sustainable Agriculture and Food (LISAF) and the Care Economy Research Institute (CERI). Applicants with research and teaching expertise that align with Applied microeconomics and have expertise in economic policy issues including those relevant to the UN SDGs, Agriculture/Food or Healthcare and experimental economics would be highly desirable and are encouraged to apply. We also encourage applicants outside these areas with significant applied economics or econometrics expertise. This position presents an exciting opportunity to be part of a School that has an outstanding reputation for teaching and research excellence, for research translation and for building strong relationships with industry partners.

The successful candidate will contribute to curriculum development in economics, coordinate subjects at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and be expected to foster excellence in teaching and learning and play a key role in assuring the quality of the academic programs and facilitating student success within the school. The successful candidate will also undertake high impact research published in ABDC A*, A or top 10% Q1 ranked journals, generate external research income and facilitate links between the school and industry. 

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will have an excellent record in curriculum development and teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the field of economics and will have an established program of research featuring publications in high quality journals (ABDC A*and A/top 10% Q1 journals). The successful candidate will possess academic administration experience and understand the needs of a diverse range of students. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collegially are key requirements of this role.
