About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional academic to join the School of Geography, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences in a new position focused on isotope geochemistry. As the incoming isotope geochemist, you will have a unique opportunity to contribute to our vibrant teaching and research culture, with a particular emphasis on isotope geochemistry, geochronology, or thermochronology. You will play a pivotal role in delivering teaching excellence to both undergraduate and postgraduate students in the geoscience program, while also making significant contributions to interdisciplinary research that impacts academic knowledge and the broader community. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct a program of research that contributes to the geoscience discipline in the School of Geography, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences
  • Publish research findings, present at conferences, and engage with internal/external collaborators to enhance academic impact
  • Actively participate in teaching geoscience, develop curriculum, mentor students, and deliver a high-quality learning experience
  • Contribute to administrative functions, engage in leadership roles, and promote diversity and inclusivity within the School

Who We Are Looking For

You have established expertise in isotope geochemistry, enthusiasm for and experience in university teaching, a demonstrated capacity to effectively supervise undergraduate and graduate research students, and a potential or demonstrated ability to actively contribute to service activities within the School, the Faculty of Science, and the broader professional community. Your excellent oral and written communication skills in English, along with strong interpersonal and organizational abilities, enable you to project manage, meet deadlines, and collaborate respectfully and effectively with colleagues from diverse disciplines.

You will also have:

  • A PhD in geoscience or a related discipline
  • An established track record of publications in one or more aspects of isotope geochemistry, in leading international journals or other high-quality publications, relative to career opportunity
  • Evidence of the ability to teach broadly into an undergraduate geoscience program, including geoscience field teaching, specialist subjects in geochemistry, and graduate courses focused on their area of expertise
  • A demonstrated capacity to supervise undergraduate and graduate research students
