About This Opportunity 

The Course Coordinator oversees Medical elements of the UQ MD program, including clinical placements and the new MD Design course. They teach relevant components, conduct research, and handle administrative duties. They contribute to UQ's vision of innovative medical education, integrating research-informed teaching and enhancing learning outcomes. The role fosters connections between students, the Faculty, and the University, including site visits for student placements.

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Teaching: Develop a cooperative working relationship with the relevant Head of Mayne Academy of Medicine that ensures the delivery of an appropriate and high-quality course across all sites.

  • Scholarship Related to Teaching: Collaborate in the development and execution of projects that explore, test, practice and/or communicate ways to improve teaching and learning in the discipline.

  • Research: Whilst the primary purpose of the Course Coordinator is to support teaching and learning, it is expected that the successful applicant will actively support research. For example:

  • Supervision and Researcher Development: Act as Principal Supervisor to Higher Degree by Research students.

  • Citizenship and Service: Consistently demonstrate behaviours that align to the UQ values.

This is a part-time (40%), fixed-term position through to 31st December 2024 at a Level C/D c to commensurate to your experience.


About You  

  • Medical qualification and eligibility for registration as a medical practitioner in Australia, with a specialist qualification recognised by Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

  • PhD or equivalent in the disciplinary area, or an appropriate combination of professional and academic service relevant to the field.

  • An established profile in clinical teaching and/or clinical research in the discipline area.

  • Mandatory Immunisations: It is a condition of employment for this role that you will be required to provide evidence of immunisation against certain vaccine preventable diseases.

  • AHPRA: It is a condition of employment for this role that you are required to have and maintain Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registration during the course of your employment.
