    • Part-time Level C, (0.6 FTE) $135k or Level B, (0.7 FTE) $110k + Annual Leave Loading + 17% Superannuation, fixed term until 31 December 2022 (extension beyond 2022 subject to funding).

    About the opportunity

    AgHealth Australia is currently seeking to appoint a Lecturer (Level B) or Senior Lecturer (Level C) to join their highly expert team. AgHealth has been leading research in relation to injury and deaths on Australian farms for 30 years. AgHealth works with partners such as Farmsafe Australia to ensure the research conducted is turned into practical programs to assist farmers, their workers, families and the rural community. Areas of work include rural health data compilation and analysis, tractor and farm machinery safety, mental health, farm vehicles (utes, quads, side-by-sides and motorcycles), pesticides and human health, plus programs relating to zoonotic diseases, hearing loss and rehabilitation.

    In the role, you are expected to provide strategic and operational direction and leadership for the work programs of AgHealth Australia. This includes seeking research funds to conduct activities focused on workplace safety, health and wellbeing. The successful applicant will also contribute to the establishment of a wide program of multidisciplinary, collaborative rural health research within the School of Rural Health and engage in leadership at the school or university level.

    AgHealth Australia is located within the School of Rural Health in Western NSW. The School of Rural Health is in an exciting time of growth and development. From 2022, The University of Sydney will deliver its four-year graduate entry Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program in two streams, a Metropolitan stream based on the University’s Camperdown campus in Sydney and a Dubbo stream based in the School of Rural Health.

    Reporting to the Head of Clinical School, School of Rural Health (Dubbo/Orange), you will have a supervision and leadership role in AgHealth including managing other research staff within the portfolio and the supervision of student research projects as part of the University of Sydney’s four-year graduate-entry MD Program.

    The Faculty of Medicine and Health is the largest faculty in the University and contains seven academic schools https://www.sydney.edu.au/medicine-health/ Sydney Medical School is one of these and includes both metropolitan and rural Clinical Schools.

    About you

    As a Lecturer you will have:

    • A PhD (or working towards same) in agricultural sciences, agricultural economics, agricultural law, health economics or other higher professional qualifications in occupational medicine/health, public health, clinical medicine or other relevant allied health field

    • strong experience in agricultural health and injury prevention

    • deep and broad experience in teaching and learning, as evidenced by participation in team teaching within an established program and experience in teaching in a variety of settings

    • demonstrated research skills together with a proven capacity for independently managing collaborative research projects relevant to agricultural health and safety

    • a track-record in attaining research funding, plus achieving and advocating for research outcomes (including conference and journal publications)

    • experience in supervising or mentoring others and coordinating team activities, including MD students

    • a proven track record of working collaboratively with rural people to achieve objectives

    • excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a high level of competency in both written and spoken English.

    • A current driver’s license

    • registration or be eligible for registration with the appropriate body, e.g., AHPRA (where applicable)

    • have a developing network of relationships with academic, consumer / advocacy, industry and / or professional organisations, partners and stakeholders

    As a Senior Lecturer you will have:

    • In addition to the above, the Senior Lecturer will be acknowledged at a national level as influential in expanding knowledge within the discipline and/or in pedagogical or curriculum innovation relating to occupational therapy/ allied health/ health sciences/ medicine

    • have demonstrated excellence in research, scholarly activities relevant to the discipline and educational design and practice

    • have an established network of relationships with key academic, consumer/advocacy, industry and/or professional institutions, partners and stakeholders that can be leveraged to enhance the standing of the discipline, School/ Faculty and University
