As part of the People & Culture team at ECU, this project based role will be primarily working on City Campus related Work Health and Safety requirements so a background within the construction industry is desirable. This role provides WHS expertise and strategic advice regarding oversight of WHS risks during the ECU City Campus construction and associated relocation projects. The Senior WHS Advisor will work closely with stakeholders to ensure WHS Due Diligence obligations are met and organisational risks are reduced as far as reasonably practicable. The role will also advocate statutory compliance with WHS legislation to minimise risks during the ECU City Campus build and relocation projects.

 The key responsibilities of this role include: 

  • Serving as a construction safety subject matter authority to provide strategic direction and expertise to ECU Leaders and the Construction Project Board to assist in ensuring Due Diligence obligations are met during the construction of the City Campus and related relocation activities. 
  • Providing a strategic WHS consultancy service to ECU stakeholders and all functional areas of ECU with interests in or which are impacted by the City Campus project.
  • Partnering with key site or project leaders to execute health and safety risk reduction programs and drive culture of safety, compliance and continuous improvement.
  • You will also demonstrate personal attributes that are congruent with the University’s values of Courage, Integrity, Respect, Rational Inquiry, Personal Excellence and Courage. 

    Benefits & Remuneration

    This is a full time, fixed term contract position until December 2027 and attracts remuneration of $106,877-$120,376 plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
