EngTest is the Faculty’s commercial enterprise whereby the engineering community in Australia are able to access the services of the Faculty if they require highly qualified Engineers to undertake projects which may need ‘cutting edge’ knowledge, expert advice or specialised testing services.

The Eng Test Senior Engineer takes the lead role in the delivery of commercial testing and analysis projects, as well as the day-to-day running, organisation and administration of Eng Test.

The ESE provides guidance and leadership to staff in delivering a range of services in a timely and efficient manner. The ESE encourages the use of methods and approaches to successfully deliver the service; monitors workflows: develops work practices, prepares reports.

The ESE will liaise with clients to design, construct and directly assist with any testing, consulting, experimental and analytical work necessary, including the supervision of teams of Eng Test staff and working directly in partnership with technicians (removed- “undertaking the work”). They will ensure that the results and reports are provided in a professional, efficient and timely fashion, and that the work is correctly recorded and invoiced. The ESE will establish future strategies and promote EngTest Services to existing and potential clients.

Some work outside of standard hours may be required from time to time and possibly some interstate travel.

To be successful you will need:

  • Demonstrated experience interpreting standards, specifications and guidelines associated with testing protocols and the aptitude in communicating the information contained therein.
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation of contracts for the supply of Engineering services and legislative frameworks in relation to these areas, as well as experience in the preparation of technical reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualise, analyse and solve complex problems and provide support to internal and external customers to create a fully designed solution to the customer.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design, set-up and “hands on” operation of specialised test equipment.
  • Demonstrated excellence in business and customer service skills; strong verbal and written communication demonstrating awareness of context and audience.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience and qualifications in an Engineering discipline, preferably Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
