As a Senior Engineering Officer, you will:

  • Promote technical solutions to modernise work practices and ensure alignment with Deakin’s strategic direction.
  • Provide specialist technical knowledge and mechanical engineering expertise on complex equipment functions, experiments, troubleshooting and maintenance to support research driven priorities.
  • Train users and ensure relevant policy, procedures and OHS guidelines are adhered to and understood by users.
  • Provide supervision and operational support on mechanical testing, and heavy plant facilities within IFM, including complex testing and diagnosis on niche testing equipment.
  • Develop maintenance plans and schedules that coordinate and ensure that repairs, maintenance and equipment damages are rectified in a timely manner to ensure minimal disruption to service and support.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A relevant Engineering Degree with subsequent relevant experience; or
  • Extensive experience and specialist knowledge or broad knowledge in technical fields; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Knowledge of mechanical testing, heavy plant equipment associated with materials processing
  • Knowledge of research work environments (preferred)
  • Experience with tool changes and set-up and commissioning complex plant (5-10 years)
