  • Commencement Salary: $90,234 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)

About the Role

The Senior Database Administrator will work as a senior member of the team supporting the University’s information technology environment.

This position will design, develop, support and manage the corporate and research data management environments using a variety of database technologies encompassing Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MariaDB and corporate batch scheduling. The role will also provide technical leadership to team members and as required, lead specific stages of the software development lifecycle.

About UniSA’s Research and Data Management Support team

The Research and Data Management Support team cross-skills over applications and database technologies to manage, develop and support the University’s Research Systems and Data Management Infrastructure to ensure business objectives are met. The team ensures the effective delivery of specific information technology solutions using a variety of technologies including: Oracle, Microsoft SQL, PostgreSQL and MariaDB.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, support and manage the University’s corporate databases, associated services and research data management
  • Consult, collaborate and coordinate with stakeholders on business requirements and service levels
  • Provide technical leadership to team
  • Lead elements of the software development lifecycle
  • Provide specialist advice to business users

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (normally a degree) or demonstrated equivalent knowledge, significant experience and skills

  • Experience in the architecture, design, development and support of complex database management systems and services, data integration environments and research data management

  • Project management experience

  • Experience in the support of Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MariaDB and modern methods of data integration

  • Experience in the use of Unix and programming languages including SQL and database tools
