About the team

The School of Human Sciences was formed in 2017 as an amalgamation of the School of Anatomy, Physiology & Human Biology and the School of Sports Science, Exercise and Health. The School is one of the largest in the University and makes a significant contribution to the BSc majors in Anatomy and Human Biology, Physiology, Neuroscience, Biomedical Science and Sports Science. The School also contributes to medical, dental and paramedical education in all tertiary institutions within Western Australia. Specifically, you will be working with the Work Integrated Learning Team and course coordinators within the Department of Sport Science Exercise and Health to support the delivery of nationally accredited education courses in Exercise Science and Exercise Physiology.

About the opportunity

As the appointee you will, under broad direction, be responsible for supporting the delivery and operations of the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) program, including student placements, as part of the undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the Department of Sport Science, Exercise and Health. This includes relationship management between all stakeholders (e.g., academic team, students, placement hosts), and responsibility for coordinating, allocating and administrating clinical placement programs with internal and external hosts.

In consultation with the course leaders and the academic unit coordinator, you will support the management and evaluation of the WIL program. This includes sourcing and assisting external placements hosts, scheduling and overseeing student outcomes and compliance, WIL program compliance with industry accrediting body and industry standards, supporting student experience outcomes across the WIL program and assisting with the vocationally aligned training of students within units/course.

About you 

We are looking for an accredited clinical exercise physiologist who is passionate about educating others in this field. The role involves working with academic staff, students, and industry to facilitate work-integrated learning experiences. The ideal candidate should possess experience in student supervision and coordination of work-integrated learning, including preparing and supporting students for industry opportunities, assessing competency, and working across teams to support program outcomes.

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Sport Science, Exercise and Health or demonstrated equivalent competency
  • Current accreditation in Exercise Science and Exercise Physiology with the Exercise Science and Sports Australia (ESSA)
  • Substantial relevant experience in vocational educational design and delivery
  • Relevant industry experience as a clinical exercise physiologist working across multiple domains of health and/or disease
  • Experience in the management of WIL programs, and/or Exercise Physiology clinical education
  • Experience in facilitating WIL for students (e.g. identify and respond to risks, implement student safety planning etc.)
  • Proficiency in a range of computing skills including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and specialised placement management digital tools (e.g., SONIA)

  • First Aid & CPR Certificate
  • Mental Health First Aid Certificate
