About the Role

As a member of the Strategic Capability team, the Senior Coordinator, Strategic Capability, leads the development, implementation, and delivery of strategic programs and initiatives that enable impact driven translation of research. The Strategic Capability team provides strategic capability planning and delivery expertise to attract, support and retain research talent to RMIT as well as contributing to the overall development of capability strategy and frameworks.

The position forms part of a highly collegial and team-based unit and works closely with the Researcher Capability Development and Enabling Impact Platform functions, the Research Partnerships and Translation Unit, as well as other key stakeholders in the Research and Innovation Portfolio to support impact driven translation of research.

About You

To be successful in this position, you'll have:

  • Demonstrated leadership in the development and implementation of researcher support programs and activities (experience in research innovation and translation related programs would be advantageous).
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of systems and processes for optimised delivery of large-scale research programs and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders both within and across teams, through excellent communication, collaboration, influencing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the importance of effectively engaging with industry, translation of research and building entrepreneurial career pathways
  • Demonstrated understanding of research translation readiness and impact evaluation principles would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience in case management of research translation projects would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrated history of behaviour aligned to the RMIT values and professional capability framework.

The RMIT x Breakthrough Victoria Pre-Seed Fund

The RMIT x Breakthrough Victoria Pre-Seed Fund, (the Fund) is part of the skills and funding support provided by RMIT to accelerate translation of our research and innovation.

The Fund has been established in partnership with Breakthrough Victoria. Breakthrough Victoria Pty Ltd has been established to manage the Victorian Government's landmark $2 billion Breakthrough Victoria Fund.

The Fund between RMIT and Breakthrough Victoria will provide funding for early-stage research, ideas and new technologies and will facilitate access to university networks and mentoring to create seed-fund-ready companies. Up to 20% of this funding can be invested into social purpose ventures.

The resources will be dedicated to the local start-up ecosystem to develop homegrown talents. The fund will drive the commercialisation of intellectual property (IP) by providing the right conditions for the growth of existing businesses and innovation precincts.
