About the position

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Students Portfolio assists students to connect to their study, community and career and works in close partnership with students, the academy and other LTU service divisions to provide outstanding experiences that support student transition and success across the student lifecycle.  The portfolio plays a primary role in facilitating success and retention initiatives across the University and includes the following teams:

•          Student Experience

•          Indigenous Strategy and Education

•          Student Administration

•          Student Conduct and Investigations

•          Health, Wellbeing and Inclusion

In leading these areas, the Portfolio places a strong emphasis on collaborative and inclusive relationships with students and colleagues in other departments and groups across the university. 

Health, Wellbeing and Inclusion Division provides a range of strategic, service and program outcomes to the University across specialist counselling, inclusion, student behavioural support and wellbeing functions. This Division delivers high quality, consistent and equitable services to manage inclusion and reasonable adjustment and address the emotional, psychological and physical wellbeing needs of university students and staff.

The Senior Coordinator, Primary Prevention and Education will contribute to the prevention of sexual harm, heterosexism, discrimination, gender-based violence and other problem behaviour through the development and delivery a variety of initiatives and programs.

The Senior Coordinator, Primary Prevention and Education is located in the Strategy, Prevention and Education Stream and will work closely in a team of health promotion and primary prevention practitioners. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Strategy, Prevention and Education. 

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have;

  • An undergraduate degree in any area relevant to the position with at least 4 years subsequent experience; or extensive experience and management expertise; or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, especially the capacity to work collaboratively and cooperatively in small teams.
  • Demonstrated organisation and problem-solving skills, with an ability to manage several different projects concurrently.
  • Demonstrated skills in research, evaluation or interpretation of data.
  • Demonstrated high level of self-motivation and personal management skills.
  • Proven ability to focus on objectives rather than procedures and precedents.
  • Ability to apply theoretical knowledge or management or policy expertise to bring together diverse and sometimes conflicting information to solve problems.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management in the tertiary sector or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders to achieve stated outcomes.
  • Demonstrated in-depth contemporary knowledge of sexual harm, gender-based violence and heterosexism.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice of violence prevention and respectful relationship education.
  • Demonstrate experience in leading and delivering primary prevention initiatives in community or educational settings.
  • Demonstrate knowledge on the promotion of diversity and inclusion within large and complex organisations.
