About the opportunity

The Senior Control Room Operator is responsible for overseeing 24/7 control room operations. They serve as the frontline for customer service and incident response. They liaise with students, staff, and visitors while managing security systems and coordinating with external agencies during emergencies.

About you

  • provide the primary point of contact for staff and students, offering general site information and assistance
  • assess situation arising and identify the associated risks, understand and communicate the severity of the threat and options for resolution through the appropriate response protocols
  • control risk-based operations and coordinate resources in response to incidents and emergencies
  • liaise with external agencies to facilitate best response
  • interact with key stakeholders-including building management, emergency services, client representatives and security officers via a variety of communication channels
  • undertake general administrative tasks within the control room operations
  • monitor critical research infrastructure, actively monitor screens to detect abnormalities.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
