About This Opportunity 

The Senior Business System Analyst undertakes business analysis activities to identify, define and convert business requirements into strategic system designs for large ERP systems at the University of Queensland, considering the wider enterprise applications portfolio. The role is a senior escalation point within the team, supporting other team members in delivering services.

 Key responsibilities include:  

  • Champion and enforce robust cybersecurity practices in alignment with UQ’s Cyber Security Policy, ensuring compliance with university-developed procedures and standards.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to analyse business processes, identifying operational needs and proposing innovative solutions for automated and non-automated components, fostering process improvements.

  • Evaluate feasibility and recommend novel approaches to meet customer requirements, translating business needs into system specifications while adhering to agreed-upon standards.

  • Prepare comprehensive business cases outlining potential benefits, options for achieving these benefits, associated business risks, and contribute expertise to business cases developed by junior staff or organizational units.

  • Lead project management for significant IT projects, engaging in negotiation and liaison with senior stakeholders to ensure adherence to organizational policies and strategies. Provide senior technical advice, support, and mentoring while maintaining an in-depth knowledge of business processes and systems.


About You  

  • Possess postgraduate qualifications in IT, business, or a related field, or demonstrate significant progress towards such qualifications, coupled with extensive relevant experience. An equivalent combination of experience and education/training will also be considered.

  • Demonstrate significant hands-on experience with Oracle PeopleSoft Campus Solutions applications.

  • Showcase substantial experience in business analysis and requirements gathering across ERP platforms. Proven ability to collaborate with stakeholders, conduct analysis, produce solution designs, and prioritize delivery in alignment with agreed service expectations.

  • Exhibit exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, including the capacity to conceptualize, establish, and implement new initiatives and innovative solutions. Strong written communication skills, with the ability to write clear and precise user and technical specifications. Additionally, possess strong interpersonal skills for effective mentoring, technical leadership, and communication with diverse stakeholders.

You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment and may be required to complete background checks including, criminal history and education checks.
