Our Digital Engagement team is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Business Analyst with a strong technical background and a mindset of driving continuous improvement, to undertake delivery of some large projects within the University. You will play a key role in determining business requirements and specify effective business processes, through improvements in information systems, information management, practices, procedures, and organisation change.

Your strong stakeholder engagement skills coupled with excellent communication and analytical skills will see you contribute through the lifecycle of a number of external projects, including coordinating client engagements and workshops, defining potential benefits through preparation of business cases and providing options for achieving these benefits through development of new or changed processes, and associated business risks.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Actively engage and enable collaboration across teams and with a diverse range of stakeholders to define process and performance problems and negotiate inclusive and accessible solutions and achieve strategic goals
  • Manage process and performance change initiatives that increase value and efficiency of functions and services and promote innovation
  • Integrate multiple data sources, baseline current state processes and performance to seek trends and analyse issues from diverse perspectives
  • Discuss and understand broad constructs rather than concrete examples, identify business needs and change opportunities, analyse requirements and implement solutions, and evaluate effectiveness
  • Use accepted theory, methods and tools and practices to develop and deploy continuous improvement actions to ensure implementation of continuous improvement strategies across Deakin
  • Develop a network of useful contacts within Deakin and integrate perspectives held within different areas of the University and puts plans in place to build collaboration and develop common goals
  • Use understanding of the client context to anticipate needs, tailor services, improve service offering and ensure a high-quality outcome by addressing client feedback and setting service standards
  • Navigate appropriate course of action, gain agreement on preferred approach and prepare advice (information, materials and recommendations) to meet specific stakeholder style and requirements

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or
  • Extensive experience and management expertise; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • Experience working within a large scale and complex organisation
  • Experience facilitating strategic workshops involving stakeholders at all levels to achieve process and performance improvement
  • Experience as a business analyst working in an IT development environment
  • Experience gathering, documenting, and managing user requirements
  • Knowledge of systems, process and business improvement capabilities
  • Experience designing effective solutions to complex business and technical problems
