A continuing opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with customer service focus to work as part of a team providing best practice archives management activities.

The University Library provides resources, services and spaces that enable and support staff and students to achieve success in their research, teaching and learning. These activities include collection development and management, both physical and electronic; services associated with the discovery of, access to and use of information resources; provision of flexible study spaces and guardianship of special and heritage collections. Services and resources are provided online and from the physical locations of the Barr Smith Library, the Sir John Salmond Law Library and libraries at Waite and Roseworthy campuses.

Working under general direction, The Senior Archives Officer contributes to the delivery of services and programs that support the management and discovery of the University’s special collections (archives, manuscripts, rare books, artworks and heritage objects).  This includes assisting in the processing of collection material, answering enquiries from a range of users (University staff, students, volunteers and external researchers), assisting in the development of reference resources and aids to enhance access to the collections. Using and entering data in the Library’s archives management system (AMS) is also expected.

This role also facilitates efficient and compliant recordkeeping across administrative and academic areas of the University. This includes undertaking recordkeeping tasks, working with both hardcopy and electronic records and using the University’s electronic document and records management system (EDRMS).

To be successful you will need:

  • Demonstrated experience managing both hard copy and electronic records and recordkeeping processes
  • High level written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft communications, and good interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated time management and organisation skills
  • Demonstrated customer service skills, taking pride in providing solutions and delivering outstanding service
  • Proven ability to actively contribute to a collaborative, dynamic team and adapt to change in the workplace
  • Demonstrated ability to promote the organisational values on integrity, respect, collegiality, excellence and discovery, and a commitment to positively comply with the associated behaviour expectations.

Demonstrated experience using information systems, such as AMS and/or EDRMS is also desirable.
