The Opportunity
If you love working with animals or are considering a change in your career path, we will support you with establishing your career as a Senior Animal Technologist within the Monash Animal Research Platform (MARP).
This position contributes to supporting the Faculty’s research base and provide management and care services for animals of various species through general, technical and medical procedures under the frameworks of established policies.
The Senior Animal Technologist is responsible for the day-to-day running of a designated unit including planning and prioritising work and promoting animal welfare with respect to animal production, care and experimentation. The Senior Animal Technologist provides a professional, efficient service to researchers by supplying quality animals and actively participating in and supporting research projects.
In addition, the Senior Animal Technologist oversees, supervises and trains both senior and junior team members in the delivery of animal husbandry, care and welfare of laboratory animals in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), while ensuring a compliant and safe operating environment.
The Senior Animal Technologist is expected to maintain up-to-date specialist knowledge of new and innovative methodology, equipment, technology, data management and analysis, including implementing change to practices and training as required.
We are seeking someone with a Diploma of Applied Science (Animal Technology) with subsequent relevant work experience in a laboratory animal facility environment or an equivalent combination of relevant knowledge, training or experience in an animal facility environment. You will also possess a passion for working with animals and a collegial, collaborative and engaging work ethic.

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
