About the Portfolio

The newly formed Experience Organisation in RMIT, part of the Operations portfolio, is established to create great experiences and journeys for our Students, Researchers and Industry Partners. A key component of these journeys and experiences is delivered via our digital platforms. The digital experiences however need to seamlessly integrate with on campus or staff assisted activities of our Students, Researchers, and Industry Partners.

Digital enablement and digital transformation are of increasing importance to the research, teaching and learning life of a university, particularly a ‘global university of technology and design’ like RMIT. Best in breed digital capabilities were established as part of the RMIT 2020 strategy. Within the context of the new 5-year strategic plans, these digital capabilities need further maturing to support:

The Role

In this role you will be a key part of the technical team implementing AEM solutions. You are technically proficient in AEM and Java, writing clean code and automated unit tests.

You understand the inner workings of AEM, Adobe best practices and can use the out of the box features to their advantage when delivering on requirements working in an Agile delivery environment.

You will bring an in-depth knowledge of AEM, industry best practices and a mindset of continuous improvement to the role as well as the ability to upskill other team members.

  • Build components, templates, content fragments, and workflows using the Adobe CQ/AEM architecture.

  • Experience integrating with SOAP and REST webservices.

  • Set up custom OSGI configuration, Workflows, and event listeners.

  • Experience building AEM models, servlets, and services. Should be knowledgeable in multi-threading concepts and dispatcher configuration.

  • Understands the importance of quality unit tests and automation and has proven experience in writing JUnits and ensuring code coverage.

  • Independently manage individual time and tasks

  • Provide influence, guidance, or direction for junior back-end developers.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with AEM 6.4 and above, Dispatcher, Java, REST, SOAP, OOPS concepts

  • Well versed with Basic Linux administration

  • Good Understanding of Version control - GIT

  • Very Strong Experience in: AEM (6.2 - 6.5), Dispatcher configurations, AEM component development, Understanding of AEM stack, OAK- JCR, AEM, Sling, AMS (Adobe managed services), Java 1.8 Onwards

  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast moving, and growing environment

  • Solid understanding of the software development life cycle in a Scrum team

  • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills

  • Team player and good time-management skills

  • Great interpersonal and communication skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of full life cycle implementation experience using various SDLC methodologies

  • Ability to effectively identify and rectify the source of problems independently.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
