About the position

The La Trobe Confucius Institute was established in 2011 in partnership with Chongqing University, located in Chongqing City, China. The purpose of Confucius Institutes is to promote the Chinese language and culture and to encourage the development of innovative approaches to teaching and learning related to the Chinese language and culture. La Trobe's Confucius Institute is well regarded for its delivery of language and cultural programs, and it focuses primarily on engaging with the local community in Melbourne's north.

Reporting to the Manager, Confucius Institute, the Senior Administrative and Program Coordinator of CI is required to effectively coordinate the administrative function of the Institute, as well as assist with the planning, coordinating, and implementation of essential programs and projects of the Institute. It is a critical position within the Institute and is primarily responsible for a wide range of the CI's key activities and broader engagement with the University and its community.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have;

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification and/or relevant experience, preferably in the higher education sector or an equivalent.
  • Demonstrated extensive high-level experience in administrative management.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and experience in successfully supporting project outcomes.
  • Demonstrated high-level interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience with university academic policies and procedures, preferably including experience with international engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating and managing events and programs with competent skills in marketing.
  • Relevant financial management experience.

Desirable

  • Excellent written and oral language skills in both English and Mandarin.
  • Translation experience and skills.
