  • Full-time, fixed term contract until 1 March 2024
  • Commencement Salary: $84,539 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)

This position is responsible for managing a range of activities within the Academic Services function, including:

  • SATAC and International Admissions;
  • Internal transfers;
  • Reporting and data analysis;
  • Credit assessment and approval;
  • Project support related to the Academic Services function

Student and Academic Services (SAS) provides senior leadership in student and academic administration in a distributed service environment. It is responsible for the development and maintenance of policy, information systems and procedural frameworks. The Unit coordinates and provides quality assurance for a number of University functions including student admissions, enrolments, examinations, graduations, student finance and scholarships.

Core Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development, implementation and review of the Unit’s plans for Academic Services through the creation or reports and analysis of data relating to applications and enrolments
  • Act as a point of reference for key stakeholders, both within the Academic Unit, and throughout the University, in the provision of advice relating to specific areas of responsibility within the Academic Services function
  • Provide high-level and accurate advice to the Business Partner (as well as Academic Unit leadership) regarding the requirements for admissions for the following year, taking into account load setting requirements, as well as Academic Unit cut-off requests
  • Facilitate the admissions process for direct entry applications, including Internal Program transfers, and the assessment of all non-standard applications via SATAC
  • Assist with, and oversee, the credit assessment and approval process for individual applications and provide advice to the Academic Officers: Credit and Admissions in the negotiation and liaison with relevant external stakeholders regarding the review and approval of credit agreements

Essential Skills and Experience
  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline or demonstrated equivalent skills, knowledge and experience
  • Demonstrated previous experience managing application processes and experience with online admission systems
  • Demonstrated previous experience working in a senior administrative position in a complex service organisation, involving the provision of advice and recommendations to senior staff
  • Highly developed research and analytical skills to interpret and apply policies and procedures and prepare reports using data from a variety of information sources
  • Highly developed organisational skills to manage multiple priorities and projects within tight timelines
