The role & key responsibilities

The Project & Minor Works Safety Advisor, is a specialist role responsible for providing monitoring, supervision and advice on a range of complex health and safety issues in all projects to identify and appropriate control EHS risks in the design, planning and execution stages of capital projects in RMIT premises.

The role will have a broad understanding of risks in Construction field. Partnership with different stakeholders to ensure project site compliance with RMIT Environmental, Health & Safety and risk control policies and procedures. Lead, direct and enforce safety on every projects. Identify, eliminate and control hazardous conditions that may lead to injury and or property damage using job specific safety standards, best management practices.

The role will also be responsible for regular reporting on risk profiles and controls of the capital projects as required.

         

Key selection criteria


  • Bachelor degree in Health & Safey or engineering, with minimum 05-year experience in Construction Safety related jobs

  • Understanding of legal requirements and standards on Environment, Health & Safety for construction.

  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose, analyse, conceptualise and provide creative solutions to complex consultancies, projects and issues.

  • Proven ability to build and maintain partnerships and relationships in a collaborative manner with key internal clients to support the University’s business objectives.

  • Proven capability to consult, interact and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders

  • Demonstrated project management skills including planning, implementation and evaluation.

  • Demonstrated experience in conducting EHS risk assessment across a range of complex activities.

  • Well developed planning and time management skills in meeting deadlines and managing conflicting demands;

  • Proven ability to develop clear and concise wrtitten communications including proposal, audit reports, procedures & policies.
