  • Part time (0.2FTE) fixed term contract until December 2024
  • Salary range: Level C $125,639 – $144,523 p.a. plus 17% superannuation and clinical loading (plus Rural & Remote allowance if located at a nearby rural site)

About the team  

The Rural Clinical School of Western Australia is a unit within the Medical School which provides rural clinical training for WA medical students. The RCSWA spans a breadth of some 3,500kms across multiple sites in WA order to provide a positive rural educational experience, increase the quantity and quality of the rural workforce and in turn improve health outcomes in rural and remote Australia.

About the opportunity  

The role of the Rural General Practice Discipline Coordinator is to oversee student placements in the rural GP program and contribute to the teaching and assessment of the rotation for UWA students.

Working closely with two other Discipline Coordinators and the RGPP Administration team you will solve complex placement problems and queries, help to recruit new preceptors and manage preceptor concerns.

You will also contribute to teaching UWA students through virtual tutorials, small group sessions and relief teaching. You will develop and provide learning materials and resources and play a key role in student assessment and feedback.

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate: 

  • Registered, or able to be registered with AHPRA as a Medical Practitioner
  • Currently or previously practiced medicine in rural WA
  • Previous experience as a preceptor and/or supervisor of medical students and/or junior doctors or registrars. 
  • Excellent organisational, communication and negotiation skills
  • Commitment or interest in the principles and practice of Indigenous health in rural and regional areas and to rural medical education and to improving rural medical workforce

About you  

The role is located at the RCSWA Office in the QEII Medical Centre. However, we encourage you to apply if you are located at a nearby rural town as flexible work options are available including working from the nearest RCSWA office.
