Your new role
The Research Services Officer will assist the Project Initiation team in the review, submission and management of research funding applications to ensure that all administrative and regulatory requirements of the granting bodies are met. The Research Services Officer will report directly to the Team Lead, Project Initiation, and interact with academic staff who apply for grants as well as other Curtin University staff as required.
Key responsibilities include:
Review of grant applications
- Developing familiarity with granting bodies’ requirements.
- Advising applicants of eligibility issues and other requirements.
- Liaising with applicants to assist with revisions of applications.
- Ensuring application documentation is complete.
- Using spreadsheets and database to collate information provided via grant applications.
- Identifying and providing information to academic staff about future funding opportunities.
- Working towards continual improvement of the functionality of the Project Initiation team.
- Providing feedback to applicants to assist them with their applications.
- Providing a personalised service by supporting projects through to service delivery.
Personal qualities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work under pressure with high volume of applications and within time constraints of the grant application process.
- Ability to work as part of a team within the Research Office at Curtin.
- Ability to interact positively with a diverse range of people.
- Hold a relevant degree or diploma with considerable relevant experience or an equivalent combination.
- Excellent oral and written English.
- Strong numeracy skills, particularly in reviewing budget information.
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
