PRIMARY DETAIL

Salary Package: (HEW 7) $97,783 - $106,018, plus 17% employer's superannuation.
Appointment Type: Full-time, Ongoing
Location: Macquarie University, Wallumattagal Campus at North Ryde

THE ROLE

The position will coordinate and organise all aspects of operational research reporting systems within Research Services, including PURE and ONIT, to deliver internal, national and compliance reporting on grants, publications and other research related activities.

Key Accountabilities

  • Coordinate and liaise with stakeholders within Research Services and beyond as necessary regarding operational research reporting needs, and design new reports, data analysis, and mapping for research documentation as required.

  • Analyse existing reports and business information to identify operational research reporting issues or anomalies and provide appropriate advice and support for resolving these.

  • Establish and coordinate operational research data collection activities within the various teams in Research Services and Faculties to ensure completeness of data for reporting purposes, especially for grants, publications and other research activities.

  • Identify options and opportunities for improving business information to support decision-making processes around research reporting data.

  • Actively engage in major MQ IT projects, including systems’ upgrades/updates, changes in organisational structures, etc, to understand evolving operational research reporting needs and impact/opportunities for existing research reporting needs.

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with Research Services’ stakeholders and other relevant working groups.

About You

  • Degree qualification and equivalent experience in database management, data analysis or document management or a related field.

  •  Knowledge of the Australian Higher Education environment.

  • Understanding of the use of information technology in a research management context.

  • Strong knowledge of reporting techniques and practises including the ability to create meaningful and well-presented reports and research documentation.

  • Knowledge of relational databases in the context of sourcing and extracting data, information and developing complex research report.

  • Experience in data analysis and data/research benchmarking.

  • Experience with relevant reporting and/or analytical systems and tools to support gathering of business requirements and the provision of reports related to research

  • Ability to and experience with interpreting and following business rules for reporting/assessment exercises

  • Proven ability to provide high-level support to projects related to research systems and reporting

  • Demonstrated experience contributing to and implementing strategy and planning

Desirable

  • Familiarity with research systems such as PURE, ONIT, Infonetica

  • Broad knowledge of research, researchers and the research ecosystem including grants, research outputs, research performance metrics, research outcomes and impact

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the higher education/university sector
