  • Starting salary: $204,128 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)


About the Role

Reporting to the Dean of Research, you will be a leading and internationally recognised expert, who will lead the new Forestry Centre of Excellence (FCoE) in Mount Gambier, to advance innovative research on wood resources and wood-based products, with a focus on interdisciplinary collaborations within the University, with national and international research institutions, and industry. You will exemplify the highest level of performance and leadership and will continue to make distinguished, internationally recognised contributions to research.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • A PhD with an outstanding international record of research achievement in Wood Science and Technology 
  • Demonstrated success at creating and leading a high-performing, inter-disciplinary and productive research, or industry teams
  • Significant collaboration with national and international stakeholders coupled with demonstrated development of partnerships between academia, industry, government, the community, and the profession
  • Sustained levels of diversified research and development income from nationally and internationally competitive funding schemes 
  • Evidence of significant citation indices together with a solid record as a principal supervisor of successful HDR student completions
  • Ability to teach courses at university level, including general wood science and wood quality, wood technology, wood industrial manufacturing, wood-based materials, and engineered wood products
