  • Base Salary $91,644 - $98,796 + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

As a Research Officer, you will provide technical support, knowledge, and expertise to the Chief Investigator, Senior Research Academics, and the research team. Contribute and help facilitate research activities, understand, and create logical research protocols, undertake research, and contribute to critical analysis and findings in a constructive and valuable manner. You may also be required to lead or assist students, provide knowledge and support in demonstrating participant recruitment, and prepare clinical trial documents accurately and correctly for research. Overall, you will engage with the work in a hands-on and informed role.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Recruit research participants (people with cancer) to a multi-centre clinical trial

  • contribute and coordinate research and administration activities

  • communicate with relevant stakeholders, including GPs, general practice managers, staff, and academics

  • assist with the preparation of research outputs (including manuscripts, conference abstracts, presentations, and other research reports)

  • ensure appropriate ethics or other relevant permission applications are lodged, approved, and being followed by staff members.

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in a related discipline (a postgraduate qualification or progress towards one will be highly valued but is not essential)

  • experience in research projects, including knowledge in research protocols and systems, experience with Redcap (preferred however not essential), experimental design, as well as research-related expenses to budget and finance

  • ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work

  • experience in carrying out research projects in accordance with ethical standards and preparing reports on research results

  • excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to maintain positive stakeholder management, with a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with day-to-day operational matters

  • ability to travel to GP Practices as required by the business needs.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
