Research Officer – The Kirby Institute

  • Employment Type: Part-time (14 hours per week)
  • Duration: Fixed term contract until 31 Dec 2024
  • Remuneration: $96,960 - $103,434 Full-time equivalent (salary will be pro-rata to part-time hours) + 17% Super and Leave loading
  • Location: Kensington, NSW (Hybrid working, work from home and from UNSW Sydney campus)

Why Your Role Matters:

As a Research Officer, you will play a key role in supporting research projects as part of a multidisciplinary team of researchers in sexual health and surveillance, evaluation, and research.

You will provide technical and research assistance to senior research staff in activities associated with various research projects, including the contribution and application of knowledge in the field of disability and adolescent vaccination to the Vax4Health project conducted within the Kirby Institute.

The role reports to the Senior Lecturer and has no direct reports.

Who You Are:

  • A university degree in public health or related discipline, or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through a combination of education, training, or experience.
  • Specific education/training/experience in qualitative research, participatory methods, adolescent health, sexual health, vaccination, disability inclusion, and/or school-based health promotion programs is an asset.
  • Knowledge of research protocols, experimental design and planning as involved in developing research projects and reporting against milestones.
  • Experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including NVIVO and Microsoft applications.
  • Demonstrated superior interpersonal communication skills to initiate and maintain effective stakeholder relationships whilst exercising discretion and confidentiality.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
