  • Base Salary $89,759 + 17% superannuation (pro-rata)

About the opportunity

Working on an exciting and impactful project funded by iMOVE Australia, we are seeking a Research Officer to support research on the outcomes and community benefits of a regional active transport network, including data collection, data analysis, project management and preparing reports and publications.

This project is being conducted by the Prevention Research Collaboration, School of Public Health, University of Sydney, in partnership with Transport for NSW, Wagga Wagga City Council, and the Murrumbidgee Local Health District. Travel to Wagga Wagga once or twice a year is likely to be required.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • work in collaboration with the project officer based in Wagga Wagga, to plan for and manage data collection for various different project components, using surveys, interviews, observations, focus groups and collation of monitoring data

  • undertake administrative tasks including organising meetings and quarterly reports

  • undertake preliminary data analysis and prepare draft reports and academic journal articles for publication

  • support the research team and work extensively with the partners and stakeholder groups to meet mutual goals and deadlines and achieve the objectives of the project

  • ensure all ethical standards are met in conducting the research, including all ethical compliance requirements

About you

As a Research Officer, you have:

  • experience with either qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis, with strong data analysis literacy

  • extensive experience with project coordination, including data management, data collection, and working with senior investigators

  • the ability to prioritise and manage competing deadlines, including organising committee meetings taking minutes and preparing quarterly and annual reports

  • experience with conducting online or face-to-face focus groups, and managing online surveys and response data

  • a Master of Public Health degree, or Master degree in a related field, or PhD in Public Health or a related field.

  • a strong interest in chronic disease prevention, promotion of physical activity, or active travel research.
