The Opportunity

Join our dynamic research team as a Research Officer to support the operations of a range of ongoing studies relating to public health and substance use.

This position will collaborate with dedicated postdoctoral and senior researchers, contributing to a number of ongoing studies including the 'Beyond 50' cohort study which is focused on healthy ageing, alongside other studies including those focusing on safer opioid use and overdose prevention. You will also play a crucial part in supporting the establishment of new studies, with tasks including participant recruitment, meticulous data collection, and ensuring a compliant and secure research environment. Your responsibilities will also extend to engaging with participants, addressing inquiries, obtaining informed consent, conducting interviews (both face-to-face and via telephone), contributing to ethics applications, programming online surveys and maintaining precise data entry.

We are actively seeking individuals with a tertiary qualification in a relevant health or science field. Alternatively, if you possess substantial skills and work experience in the field, or a combination of experience and education/training, we encourage you to apply. Strong analytical, technical and data analysis skills are prerequisites, accompanied by excellent organisational abilities. The capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a team is crucial. Prior experience in participant recruitment and data collection, particularly through telephone and face-to-face interviews would also be an advantage.
