Overview
The Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet (HealthInfoNet) websites are Australia’s leading online source of knowledge and information about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health; the HealthInfoNet has been acknowledged as an essential element of the infrastructure contributing to Australia’s efforts to substantially improve the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The HealthInfoNet is dedicated to contributing to closing the gap in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health outcomes. 

The Role
The HealthInfoNet is seeking a Research Officer to join the research team. The Research Officer role includes:

  • Proactively searching for information on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, assessing the relevance of search results and entering relevant information into the HealthInfoNet’s database.
  • Writing and editing abstracts for website content.
  • Maintaining up-to-date website content through regular audits and updates of topic-specific content.
  • Compiling newsletter content and regularly sending curated content to subscribers.
  • Sourcing content for the HealthInfoNet’s social media activities.
  • Providing good customer service to stakeholders.  

Key Criteria

Applicants must possess the following experience/skills:


  • Diploma level qualifications in a health-related discipline, communications or similar, or an equivalent level of experience.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and organisational skills.
  • Well-developed computer literacy and online search skills, including use of Microsoft Office and search engines.
  • Experience in writing, editing and proofreading to a high standard.

  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are particularly encouraged to apply.

    Benefits and remuneration
    These full-time, fixed term positions attract a remuneration of $69,151 to $73,651 pa plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
