About the role

The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team working on an innovative primary health care research study addressing gaps in the delivery of effective weight management dietetic services to improve patient outcomes for people living with obesity. This position provides research and administrative support to the Academic Project Lead.  The project that aims to build capacity for GPs and dietitians to deliver effective evidence-based weight management advice using new technologies, increasing reach and improving patient outcomes. The position will provide support across a range of functions associated with the successful execution of this research project.  This may include coordinating project activities and implementing project deliverables, managing data and working with researchers to draft reports and research documentation. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Under the guidance of the Chief Investigators, manage and coordinate project work plans, timelines and implementation methods.
  • Manage participant recruitment, dietary assessment, data collection and data analysis.
  • Coordinate project activities and liaise with project stakeholders and participants to facilitate project outcomes.
  • Participate in the conduct of research activities/experiments/field trips in accordance with the skills required of the position.
  • Collate, synthesise, review and summarise information from literature searches.
  • Supervise research staff and consultant dietitians delivering the clinical trial.
  • Coordinate research meetings, including agenda papers, preparing and distributing minutes and following up action items.
  • Develop and deliver training materials required for the clinical trial.
  • Prepare content for research documentation, which may include research grant/funding applications, ethics proposals, research papers and conference presentations.
Essential Criteria
  • A relevant degree with subsequent relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Accredited Practicing Dietitian recognised by Dietitians Australia
  • Demonstrated project management, communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to apply current evidence-based dietetic knowledge to patient weight management at an advanced practice level.
  • Works effectively within an interdisciplinary team and collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a primary health care with patients or clients.
  • Demonstrated discipline specific knowledge and experience in relevant scientific/research methods, techniques and protocols.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to coordinate and implement project activities, prioritise work activities and meet deadlines.

  • A higher degree by research masters or doctoral qualification
  • Demonstrated experience in research
