The Office of Research Services collaborates with the faculties in implementing the University's research strategy. It takes responsibility for the submission of external grant applications, post-award management of grant income, research contracts, and research integrity including approval of research ethics applications; it provides research training workshops, including training for research higher degree supervisors.
The Research Integrity & Compliance Officer provides assistance to the Manager, Research Ethics & Integrity, and the Senior Research Ethics Officer, in ensuring that research undertaken by or through the University demonstrates best practice in relation to both internal and external research ethics, integrity, compliance and governance requirements.
More specifically the role entails:
- Assisting in the design, implementation and ongoing management of a research integrity framework at the University, including appointment, education and training of research integrity advisors, education and training of research staff and students, and processes for reviewing and resolving breaches and allegations of research misconduct;
- Assisting with initial assessments of research integrity complaints and making recommendations on appropriate action for the Manager, Research Ethics & Integrity's review.
- Assisting the Manager in ensuring ACU is equipped to meet its research compliance and governance requirements, including by leading the development of ACU’s clinical trials framework. You will need to have:
- A degree with subsequent relevant experience in research management, particularly human research ethics, research integrity and/or clinical trials governance; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training;
- A thorough knowledge of the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research and the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research, and their implications for the conduct of research in a university environment;
- A thorough knowledge of research compliance legislation and frameworks, particularly in the areas of clinical trials, institutional biosafety and export controls, and their implications for the conduct of research in the university environment;
- Demonstrated skills experience in research management, specifically in the area of clinical trials, and/or in running clinical trials;
- Evidence of ability to show commitment with integrity to the Catholic Identity, Mission and ethos of the University;

Total remuneration valued to $107,300 - $116,130pa, including salary component $90,670 - $98,131 (Higher Education Worker Level 7), employer contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
