About Research, Innovation and Commercialisation
Research, Innovation and Commercialisation (RIC) is a specialist team dedicated to enabling the University's research and innovation mission working closely with our academic and professional colleagues, industry partners, funding and government agencies. We have a passion to see our academics and their collaboration partners succeed, achieve research excellence and translate their discoveries into real-world innovation and impact. RIC operates University-wide across all ten Academic Divisions and Chancellery.   

About the Role
As the Research Grants Officer, you will report to either the Idea to Proposal or Contract to Output area of RGCF, with an expectation to work flexibly across both areas. Predominantly, your role will focus on the Contract to Output area, where you will assist academics with all aspects of post-award administration of research funding. You will also collaborate with research funders to plan, oversee, and develop new workflows for complex tasks while providing high-quality advice to stakeholders. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Provision of post-award administrative support for funded research, taking responsibility for high quality outcomes to stakeholders. 
  • Negotiation (where necessary) and acceptance of research funding and post-award compliance oversight of grants in cooperation with Academic Divisions, COO Portfolio), Chancellery, external research partners and external funding agencies under the direction of the Contract to Output Team Leader. 
  • Coordinating communication between research funders and researchers to ensure timely reporting on grant progress and final reports to funding bodies.  

About You
To excel in this role, you must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with strong interpersonal abilities that enable you to establish enduring relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, diligence, organization, sound judgement, and a passion for research are all indispensable qualities that are highly valued and essential for success in this role. 

You will also have: 

  • Tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. 
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks, work to competing deadlines whilst maintaining a high level of attention to detail 
  • Proven ability to thrive in a flexible, changing and fast-paced environment
