About the Role 

The Computing Technologies team at Swinburne University of Technology is looking for a Research Fellow. 

The Research Fellow will undertake research in “Intelligent Traffic Analysis and Simulation for Incident Management”, supported by the ARC project. The Fellow will be positioned in the Department of Computing Technologies and work closely with Swinburne researchers in other disciplines and external researchers.

As part of Swinburne’s Intelligent Data Analytics Lab, the Fellow will collaborate with researchers from multiple disciplines, e.g., data science, intelligent transport, traffic simulation modelling, machine learning, and optimisation, and have access to Swinburne’s supercomputers like OzSTAR (featuring 230 NVIDIA P100 GPUs)  and Ngarrgu Tindebeek  (featuring 88 NVIDIA A100 GPUs).

About You  
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • A strong publication record in top-tier journals and/or conferences, particularly in the areas of machine learning, data mining, traffic simulation modelling, transport data analysis, and/or intelligent transport systems
  • Previous experience in working in a multi-disciplinary team with people from academia, governmental sectors and/or industries
  • Demonstrated capability to work independently and with a team for delivering expected outcomes in an agile way and communicating findings to various stakeholders in an effective manner
  • Proven hands-on experience in using machine learning, data mining and/or optimisation techniques for solving real-world data analysis tasks

Qualifications
  • PhD in computer science, transport engineering or a related field focused on data analytics, simulation modelling, machine learning and/or AI
